John QQQQ Movie Review

The movie John Q is about a ordinary family in U.S.A that has a boy with a heart failure. John did not have enough money to save his son from the diseases so then his wife told him to do "something". So he did, he went to the hospital and kidnapped the people that was in there and locked them all in. The police came, called him and asked him what he wanted and he told them that they want his child at the top of the donar list. They did not listen, and try to kill him. After he requested to get mikey in the hospital with him, there was no hope, he was dying. He wanted to donate his heart and threatened the doctor to do it. He had to kill himself to give him the heart, but at the same time there was a women that had a heart that matches mikey's heart. He almost killed himself for nothing. At the end he goes to jail, but it was all worth it becuase his son is still alive.
Overall, I think this is a great movie, not just because of the story line, but also because of the actor Denzel Washington. I personally think that he did a very good job of acting out a character like that, i could tell how much he loved his son and how much he wanted to save his life. This movie tells a lot about the poor people in U.S.A without medical insurance and I understand how their feelings might be.

John Q-Movie Review (It rhymes! Ha!)

The scene is set in modern-day USA, and focuses on the average family of John Quincy Archibald. John only has enough money to survive from a job in heavy machinery, and always desperately looks for a job with better pay. An unfortunate accident involving his son Mikey leads John into a downward spiral of pain and despair as his insurance company does not cover his son's heart transplant, as they are a low-income family. The events get drastically worse as he tries his best to raise the money for the transplant, until he resorts to more drastic measures...

This movie really sent forward a thought-provoking message: Free health care for all. The acting of Denzel Washington effectively portrayed the character's feelings and strife, while also adding a twist to the plot which breaks a popular stereotype-the guy who keeps hostages is the bad guy. Even as the hostages were set free, they all proclaimed the so called 'Bad Guy' to be a good person. This immediately changed the bystander's feelings (as did mine) for John Q and the rampant cheering turns into angry booing as the police crack down on the hospital. The entire plot rests on a controversial topic of free health care and even a little dash of politics as well.

In conclusion, John Q is a movie with a clear message and makes you think about what the government is trying to hide through it's policies. With it's touching plot, added twists and a sprinkling of humor (though sparse in some places) John Q is no doubt a movie for older audiences whom understand the plot and policies better. (7/10)

John Q review

The movie starts during the height of the US economic crisis with the ordinary African-American family of John Quincy Archibald, in Chicago, who works in a metalworking factory. During an ordinary baseball game, his son Mickey collapses. Rushing to take him to the hospital, they discover that Mike has an enlarged heart, and must be replaced by an expensive donor operation, which requires $250,000. However, his insurance does not cover it, and they try to figure it out, but to no avail. Even after most of their possessions are sold, they cannot even cover the $75,000 to put their son's name on the list. After they try to talk the hospital into doing 1 operation in good faith, he learns that Mike will be evicted from the hospital the next day. At breaking point, John does the unexpected in the direst situation, desperate to rescue his son.

This is not a very good movie plot-wise, put the underlying messages are very powerful. The plot has many gaping holes in it, with a predictable conclusion and an unrealistic storyline. However, the movie builds tension extremely well, but again; there are just some really ridiculous coincidences that fill in the plot, and the characters are frankly unrealistic. On the other hand, that is how movies work. However, the real power behind the movie is the messages that you have to read between the lines to find out. It provides a good criticism of the powers that run an American city – especially the healthcare system and politics. The actions of the hospital and the police chief show a true human nature – greed. It is a very good movie, because it makes you feel emotive, and feel John’s despair. But, the movie is designed that way. Everyone has their different views and the “villains” are only following orders. It would be difficult is everything was good, because there would invariably be something bad.

Overall, this movie is bad and good. I would recommend it to people who can truly understand movies or books instead of just reading through the plot. Overall, I would give it 8/10.

john q the review

the movie begins with this family in america, the archibalds, with he father john the mother denise and their son mikey. their car is being reposessed and they are not making all that much money. it is revealed that the father is not working enough hours at his company because they cannot affored it. anyway some stuff happens you see mikey doing some body building impressions, john going to work and then mikeys baseball game. while running to second base mikey collapses and is taken to hospital. he needs a heart transplant or he will die, but the hospital requires a $75 000 down payment to get mikeys name on the donor list. the family does not have this kind of money and when their insurrance falls through john trys to raise the money. but despite his efforts he fails. with mikey about to be released john gets desperate and holds the emergency room hostage which causes the poilce to come. including hostage negotiator frank something and the cheif of poilce who works for the mayor and as it is an election year he wants to make the situtaion go away quickly.
the movie tackles both the health care issue in america and takes a political thing as well. it challenges the idea that if you are rich in america you get good healthcare but if you are not then you are treated badly.the movie was good and i enjoyed watching it though there are some points where it is kinda boring, it immediately grabs your attention again when john pulls out the gun. the movie was however fairly one sided and didn't talk much about the other side of the healthcare argument. overall i thought it was really good and i would reccomend it to teenagers and olderso that they would be able to appreciate the story more.

John Q.

Set in central Chicago, a troubled father's son goes down with heart faliure. Therefore the father, John Quincy (Denzel Washington) and wife, Danise Quincy (Kimberly Elise) go through a troubled period of trying to raise 75,000 to get their child on the hearts donors list. Not being able to come up with the money, the hospital decides to release their son, Mike Quincy (Daniel E. Smith). Out of frustration, John Q. decides to take matters into his own hands. He decides to take over the emergency room and keeps everyone in it hostage. The police suround the building attemting to talk John Q out of this miserable condition. How much would John Q. risk for getting his sons name on the list?

I think that this is a very emotional movie and has many different subjects. I would recomend this movie to many families all over the world. Especially

families in America showing them the major issue in health care.

John Q

John Q

One day in a school baseball tournament a black family cheering for their kid to run to the other side. Suddenly the kid had a heart faller. They arrived at the hospital and Ellen Cline the head of the hospital said that their insurance can not pay for them they broke down.

They had to pay in cash. The dad worked so hard to find the money and he was so close but the hospital was about to kick the kid out so the mother of the kid called her husband and told him to do some thing.

So he came up with this idea that he would barricade him self in the hospital, he said that if his son dose not go one the donor list he will kill some one.

So the head of the hospital thick that his name is up in the donor list but John new that, so he wanted to give his heart to his son but then there was a car crass and the person was die had the same type of hart so they used it on the kid and his dad lives but his is going to prison.

I think this movie is very emotive and is a realy good movie it can make you cry and the is many meaning to the story

John.Q Archibald

In the windy city of Chicago the proud Archibald family has been living on the "slow lane". They find themselves in an economic trouble and they are in danger of losing their son, who has had a heart failure after a minor league baseball game. The Archibald family accelerated to the hospital where their son Mickey has a decreasing amount of blood pressure. John Archibald has a dilemma whether he should take his son to a heart transplant or whether he should just accept the fact that his son will soon die. John Q Archibald. A man so desperatley want to save his beloved son chooses that he should have the risk of taking his son to a heart transplant.

Dr.Turner the man who is in charge of the hospital gives John Archibald a $75,000 dollars bill in order to put Mickey on the doner's list. Because the Archibald family is poor they are not able to pay that amount of money. Therefore, John has to work hard and make lots of money or he should let Mickey die in peace.

Throughout the movie they show how a father like John Q Archibald would do so much work in order to pay that $75k bill. Bribes, Promotions you name it! John would do anything to save Mickey's life. The hospital is charging John cash because his lousy Health Care Insurance would not pay for a transplant. From 85 to 84 in 3 hours Mickey's blood pressure slowly drops, and everytime the numbers go down Mickey becomes more ill.

Desperatley John Q chooses the hard way and started taking matters to his own hands when he eventually kidnapped: Mr.Turner, a nurse, Security Guard and 5 patients waiting to be cured. The siren slowly gets louder and louder until a man with medals and other fellow cops members come out from a white and blue "Cop Mobile". What will John do now? he has no defenses except a gun. No tactics to overcome the police's mind. And no-one will help him get out of the hospital alive. John's life becomes more risky all he wants is for his son to get into the doner's list and get him a new heart. Should John Q surrender to the police or hold hostage untill he gets what he wants. John Q has another dilemma...

John Q. movie review by lottie :]

Fighting against the national healthcare system in the US, John and his family struggle to keep their son, Mike, alive. Mike collapsed at a Little League game due to heart failure and is now in need of a heart transplant. Only problem is that John Q. doesn’t have to money to do it, to save his sons life. After trying all options and raising as much money as possible, John turns to his only option – violence.

He breaks into the Hope Memorial and holds many as hostages in order to make the hospital pay for his son to get a new heart. Soon, groups of people crowd around the Hope Memorial but instead of shouting, they cheer him on. On the other hand, police officers arrive and get very angry with the commotion.

After all the commotion, Mike’s name is on the list, but its doing no good seeing as Mike only has a few hours to live. John Q. risks all and decides that in order to save Mike; he will give his heart to his son. They can’t change his mind. No one can.

Movie Summary - John Q

This movie is a re-enactment of a true event that has taken place in the past. The movie goes deep inside about the American Political affairs: which includes insurance from companies to the hospital policies. The son of John Archibald - Michael had an extra ordinary large heart which he needed an organ transplant in order to live. However the insurance from his company did not cover for this type of accident. The family desperate to come up with the fee, John Archibald attempts a hospital raid to capture the people inside as hostages. The police finally agrees to add Michael's name onto the donors list in return for releasing some hostages (including a police who attempted to kill John). Then, John insists on killing himself after finding out that his son needs a transplant immediately...

I believe this film covers all aspects of complex public inconveniences that takes place in daily life. This includes problems with the police, families and government. The characters in the movie may be intentionaly picked this way to take a different approach introducing other international issues. About racism and prejudice. I find this movie being very informative explaining the problems in the world - Therefore, I will recommend this film to anyone.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS

John Q

Struggling to find a better job, John’s factory job has been reduced to part time. An ordinary American family finds themselves in a huge crisis. Their son, Mike collapsed during a softball game while running to a base. Hearing that the only way to save his son’s life because of heart failure, is to give him a new heart. Because John’s company has switched to HMO and John is only working 20 hours a week. The insurance company won’t pay for Mike’s the medical costs, which include the heart transplant. The family does not have that kind of money. As hard as John Q. Selling everything they have like television, sofa … etc tried they would not get enough money. They need $75,000 to put their child ion the donor list.

The hospital informed John Q. that they are releasing his sick son that day. With no other opinion John Q. decides to take a group of people hostage at the hospital and threaten that he would kill the people if they won’t put his son, Mike in the donor time. Time is running out. John’s son, Mike is slowly dying. Could his son get a new heart?

I personally think that this movie is very emotional. It successfully tackles the issue of health care of American. If your rich than you are cared with care, but of you are poor than the hospital will treat you like dirt. I really enjoy this movie it made me cry a lot. I recommend Adult and teenagers about 13 or 14 above.

If I had to rate this movie out of ten (10) than I would say about 8.

John Q. Movie Review

At a school baseball game, Michael William Archibald (Mikey) fainted on the way to second base. After rushing to the hospital, John (who is Mikey’s father) and his wife finds out that Mikey’s heart is 3 times bigger than the size of an ordinary heart. As time runs out for Mikey, he has to get a heart transplant before his blood pressure drops and gets worse. However, just to get on the Donor list, John and his wife has to pay at least $75,000 and even more for the transplant to happen. Beginning out with less than an eighth of the wanted amount to get on the list, Mikey’s parents have to work extra hard to first put their son on the list and then for the transplant procedure to happen. After a few weeks, the person in charge of the hospital, Rebecca Payne decides to release Mitch from the hospital. Furious, John Quincy Archibald or ‘John Q’ decides to take action. But what will he do to save his son’s life?

I recommend this movie to age 12 and up. This is because the plot had many twists, was very touching and revealed the corruption and schemes of an unjust government. This movie had a very clear message (Free health care) and a dash of politics as well. The characters played their parts very well and showed very strong emotions.

A controversial topic, a father’s quest to save his son, an unjust policy. All are key parts of this wonderful movie and gives an insight into the inner workings of a government. I would give this movie 8 out of 10 since it had depth to it and a strong message.
John Q. Is put down to part time in his job. His money is running out. His son's heart is three times the normal size, it's failing to pump enough blood around his body. Time is running out, how long will Mike last? The national health care insurance will not cover all of the exspense. What is John ment to do?

I would recomend to the US goverment. So they can see what some people have to go though.

It was one the worst films ever because it was so predictable.

"John Q." - Movie Review

Hidden from the truth, the American citizens live obliviousy; unknown to the corruption, the greed - unkown to the evil of their Government. They stand on grounds built upon merciless lies and false promises - health care only finds those with money.

John Q. Archibald's family stumbles on the deception made by the insurance company: when his son falls terribly ill , slowly sinking into heart failure. Finally noticing that no matter the begging; that no matter how much pleading, their insurance company wil refuse to pay for a $250,000 heart transplant for their Mikey. Time is ticking; a countdown is made - their son will die in a matter of days.

Breaking away from the hypnosis, the Archibald family sees America through different eyes. When desperate situations find desperate families, you can only hope their solution is any less than insane. Crumbling under pressure and doubt, can John Q. manage to find salvation?

Showing the truth behind their words, "John Q." exposes the scam and corruption rooting from the peaks of power. In a twisted tale of hope, "John Q." unroots the lies hidden behind human greed. With a story based on a real event, will "John Q." be able to open up your eyes?

This movie was an eye-opener for me; showing the harsh situations and deep feelings different people had to experience. As a tear-jerking story, I'd recommend it to many people, especially those who enjoy a poignant movie.

7/10.

Jonh Q Movie Review

This movie is targeting at the USA's Health Care system as well as the country's politics. The story starts with Jonh Quincy Archibald's family of three; Jonh himself, his wife Denise and their son Mike. The introduction shows how close and happy the family was, even though their income were not so great. Their lives were still managable. Until oneday, Mike suddenly collapses during this baseball game. It is soon revealed that Mike has a heart failure and he is in need of a surgery.

The hospital director refuse to place Mike's name in the donor list due to the family low income. Jonh points out that they have an insurance which will cover them. However the law had change and he soon learns that he has been paying for an insurance that were no longer available. Despit the anger and disappointment, Jonh starts his journey to gain money for his son's surgery. Money from work, neighbours, friends and trades. Jonh did all this for his beloved son. Unfortunately life wasn't so easy for them. The wind wouldn't blow the way they want. Mike's condition is worsen each minute.

Failed to gain the great amount of $250,000/$75,000 for the heart transplant. Failed to gain the trust of the doctor. Failed to do anything to make his son live. Jonh has no other choice. For the survival of Mike, Jonh Q. would do what he has never dream of.

This movie might not contains adventurous action or dramatic acting. However, it is entertaining and quite educational. The storyline was acceptable. It was unique and emotional. In my opinion, I think this story should be watched by people who are in the teenagers and upwards. There are a few scenes that contains foul language and it requires a bit of maturity to be able to understand and enjoy the movie.

The boy in the striped pajamas

I don't know if there are many versions of this book but the one I've read had a very easy reading level. The story tells the story of a nine-year old boy called Bruno who lived in the time period of War World II. Bruno is born is a wealthy German family due to his father being the commander of the army. In the novel the author shows how innocent Bruno is simply just by making him asking simple questions. This book is historical as it is set within the World War II time, there is a little of comedy however the ending is full of tragedy.

At first I was interested in the book because I thought the title of the book is quite unusual. When I was reading through the first few chapters I was quite irritated with Bruno's childish behavior and kept saying that he is inconsiderable about the situation and atmosphere. However, after finish the book and knowing the ending I was more forgiving for the young, innocent boy. If you read this book you may learn some historical facts as well as enjoying the story, so check it out!

Pieces of Me

Piece of me is about a girl called Mira who's unsocial and inexperience. Having her father and mother divorced she was very unfortunate. From that day, Mira always wear black- colored clothes and would not speak much in class, resulting herself not having a friend. Even though Mira is not good at communicating or special at studying, she is blessed with great artistic talent and is one of the two best students in art. And so one day, that other top art student, Cath called out to her. Shortly they became friends and Mira starts to have colors and laughter. She finally had a friend who talks with her and share experiences with her. But happiness don't tend to stay forever. Will Mira be left alone again?

This book's story telling pace is very SLOW~ in my opinion. It probably has the slowest pace story telling I've ever read. The story is quite dull and I don't see any cliff-hanger! This is not a good book to read..in my opinion.

Norwegian Wood - Murakami Haruki

This novel probably the most famous book that the talented literature author Murakami had wrote, it was translated in many languages including Vietnamese! Norwegian Wood is like a diary telling the life story of Wantabe Touru. The story first set with the Touru who is now in highschool. His life in the 1969s is quite dull and boring however it was peaceful and relaxing. Touru always hung out with his best friend, Kizuki and Kizuki's childhood as well as girlfriend, Naoko. Things started to go wrong when Kizuki commited suicide. Naoko was psychologically damaged. As the only one left who's close to Naoko, Touru felt that he has to take the responsibility to assist and care for her. But shortly she left his side and back to her hometown where she was then sent to the mountains to live with a rumored female doctor in order to cure her psychological illness. During that time he met another girl and they befriended. The story carries on with Touru encountering more people and problems. Read this book and see what problems they are and how he solved them, or did he ran away?

Born to Run

it was so upsetting. I can't read that again.
This is a story about a girl named Ginny having a very cool but sloppy aunt. Everything was going fine until her aunt disappeared one day. Everyone thought that she passed away. Only Ginny still believed that her aunt was still out there somewhere. She found 13 envelopes that her aunt left for her so she could follow the steps, more like accomplishing a mission for her aunt. The envelopes were meant to be read one by one in order. In the first envelope, it told Ginny all the rules to follow and what to bring on her trip. So she ended up living in a guy's (Richard) house in England searching for an artist to give money to after picking up a package at a Chinese looking house in New York.

Sputnik Sweetheart - Murakami Haruki

This book is very emotional but confusing sometimes. It switches to different characters point of view sometimes without you noticing. This is a book you need to read twice or even more to understand its implicit meaning. Honestly, there are some parts that I don't understand even now. I've read the novel called "Norwegian Wood" from this author and it encourages me to read his next book which is this one. There were a lot of romance in this one and a bit of psychological elements which is mostly the same as his previous works. However I think is book is too confusing and difficult.

Even so, I think is is very successful as it gave the readers a lot of affects. Such as for the part where one of the characters was having psychological trauma and was suffering painfully, I as the reader could also feel the headache as I was reading through the lines of description and flashbacks. This book is okay but I think it will requires a lot of your patience if you are reading it.

Scorpia

This is the fifth Alex RIder book, and the fourth one I reviewed, so Ill get right to the plot.

It starts with Alex on a school trip in Venice, but secretly looking for 'Scorpia', by the last words of Yassen Gregovitch. He later manages to get back to them, and discovers it is a terrorist organization, which his ather, John Rider, worked for. He joins them, throwing all traces of the M16.

I like this book, it is the best 'Alex Rider' book, because of the complexity of the plot. I would rate it a 8.7/10.

The shadows of MI6 stalked his soul where ever he walked; where ever he was. To be honest, he thought nothing of it, as long as his secret was safe. So that he would remain hidden among the stars; never eager to shine in fame.

As if misfortune read his mind, a journalist appears at his door. "I know who you are" -- these words shattered his mind. And now, he has no choice but to turn around to the existence that started it all. Of course, to keep his identity unknown, MI6 requests for one "last" mission.

A nuclear explosion in India had been redeemed as an accident. But MI6 knew otherwise. Set undercover to once again spoil the plot of a previous enemy, he will face an organisation that fooled the face of the world.

What will become of the world that now rests on Alex's shoulders? And will Alex no longer be known as a "teenage boy"?

charlie bone

this post technically counts as 2 books, i am not sure if i have already blogged them but what ever, they are the latest books in a series by jenny nimo who is awsome as an authour (snow spider trilogy) i have read alot of her books and all of the charlie bone books, though the writing style is for a younger age i have been reading them since ui was little and so when these 2 books came out i felt like i had to read them. so without further ado here is the basic story......

The Martian Chronicles

This book is an interesting book, and it has some interesting morals and ideas in it. The book takes place over 27 years, and it is not connected, but short stories within the same alternate future.

The story starts in 1999, on earth, where a group of astronaughts are preparing to go to mars. They are quickly killed by the native martians, beings with golden skin and eyes. However, eventually, the humans accidentally mange to kill almost all the martians, and so the colonization of mars begins...

This book is very good, as it has some deep ideas in it, that you have to read between the lines to find out. I like it, and I would rate it 9/10.

Code Talker By Joseph Bruchac

This book is a about a young Native American boy (from the Navajo tribe) who was shipped of to military school. The story was set back in the year 1942 where World War 2 was happening at the moment. The young boy then feels what it is like to be a soldier where big guys always tell you what to do and very hard tasks which leads to exhaution and quick loss of energy.

In this story the boy graduates from military school and then shipped of to famous battles areas like "The battle of Guadalcanal and The battle of Iwo Jima".

I think Joseph Bruchac did a very good job of writing this book. It had many action and you can imagine what it is like in those Japanese controled islands.

For those looking for action books, I think that this book is the best for you.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

This book tells the story of Hugo Cabret, an apprentice of the city's Timekeeper. Every morning after the day the Timekeeper disappeared Hugo would check the clocks to keep the right time. That is, until he found the automaton. He found the machine amongst the rubble of the museum that had burnt down. Being good with his hands, he had tried to fix it with his father's notbeook (that had the instructions to fix the automaton) and mechanical parts that he stole from the toy booth outside the station. Things got complicated when he was caught and had the notebook taken from him by the toy booth owner. From then on, his mission was to try and get back his notebook while also trying to fix the automaton. But like a good plot, this story doesn't go as smoothly as that....

Judy moodypredics the future by Megan Mcdonald

JUdy Moody is a really creative kid. In this book, it is about when Judy moody predicts the future. She thinks that she would predicts things because she has a mood ring. Judy predicted that she woulld get 110% on her spelling test, but she did. But after that she predicted that her teacher was in love. And she was right. Read it and find out what happens next.

The skin im in by Sharin G Flake

THis bookis about a girl who always get teased beacuse she is black skin. Throughout this book the girl has learned to like her skin colour and be prove at it. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

This is a collection of all 5 books in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. And, it is the most RANDOM series ever written. And, I like it.

It starts off with Arthur Dent, an ordinary man, watching as his home gets destroyed to build a new bypass. Just as the earth is about to be demolished to make a hyperspace bypass, he is saved by his friend, Ford Prefect, who is actually an alien. It continues from there.

Since this series is so random it is also quite funny. I would recommend the first book to anybody, but the first is the best, and the 2-5th books all get more and more confusing and boring, and involves things like time and alternate dimension travel, which is confusing. I would rate the series 7/10.

The Three Musketeers

The story begins with a poor man called d'Artagnan who lifetime wish is to become a Musketeer so he travelled to Paris to sign as musketeer, however he was sentence to the antechamber while in there 3 young men named Anthos, Porthos and Aramis also want to become musketeers and that's when they're adventure starts. I find this book amazing and I would probably rate it 4/5 because, I really like historic novels and French history the author made the book very interesting because he used languages to describe how the musketeers were and thier duels against other rivals. This book is originally French but was transformed to English.

Skeleton Key

This is the third book in the Alex Rider series.

It starts with a man, general Sarov, buying nuclear weapons from two men. He then double-crosses them, and kills them. It then reveals his plan- to destroy the world. Alex rider is then volunteering to be a ball-boy at the Wimbledon tennis tournament, because his superiors at the M16 fear there may be sabotage there. Their suspicions are soon realized, as he finds out that a vicious Chinese gang, big circle, is pulling the strings. When he stops it, Big Circle is after him, so he has to be taken to America, for safety. But, he finds himself in a mission to investigate Sarov, but things start to go wrong.

I like this book a smuch as the last 2, it s goood, and exciting. 8.6/10.

This short story is about a girl called Debbie, whose dad and herself is moving into a new house due to her dad's job. However, the house that they currently live in, once belonged to an infamous, ruthless murderer known as 'The Old Man Sexton'. Rumors of previous owners being murdered and some other were too scared so they moved out came up. The neighbours would be living miles away from the house. The mansion like building laying in a vast field is believed to be haunted by Sexton. Debbie repeatly felt the cold eyes staring at her from the window every time she eyed the house on the outside. When she entered inside she felt the bitterly chill and frost even though it was in the middle of summer. Touching the objects in the house would burn her hand out of coldness. But everything is fine the way it is until one day where the ghost took control over her beloved father.

Point Blanc

This is the second book in the 'Alex Rider' series, a kind of spy, adventure series.

After accidentally destroying a conference center, Alex finds himself back in the M16, and he has a new task. 2 of the most powerful people in the world were killed, and the only link is that their sons attended Point Blanc Academy, a finishing school for rebellious boys, set deep in the Swiss alps, which only the richest can afford. Alex is sent undercover as 'Alex Friend', son of Sir David Friend, one of the most powerful men in Britain. Bu when he arrives, there is far more to the academy then it seems...

I like this book more than the first one. It has a good mix of action, suspense, and mystery. I would recommend it to anyone who likes these type of novels. 8.7/10

Mockingjay

This is the third book in the 'Hunger Games' series. It is an action type book, but i'm not really sure how to describe it. (I'm not even going to explain to you what happened in the last 2 books, so go and read them yourself!)

It starts out with Katniss Everdeen and the rebels at the supposedly destroyed district 13. They have to face the mountainous task of taking down the Capitol, the ruling power which has enslaved the rest of Panem for decades.

I can't really describe the book, because it is so complex, and it is twisted. I really like this book. I would recommend it and rate it 9.5/10.

Stormbreaker

This is the first book in the 'Alex Rider' series, which I have just started. This is a kind of spy type book.

It is about Alex Rider, a 14 year old boy who finds his world turns upside down when his uncle, and last remaining guardian, Ian is killed in a car crash. He is curious, and finds out that his uncle was a spy working for British intelligence, the M16. He is then forcibly recruited, and set on his first mission- to investigate Herod Sayle, a billionaire who might be doing a service to the country- but there might be more to it when it seems.

This book is a fast paced adventure book, and I like it. I would rate it 7.6/10.

The last song by Nicholas Sparks

It is the most moving booking to ever read. In is about a girl called Veronica Miller (Ronnie Miler) and her parents are divorced. She lives with her mom and brother Jonah. For 17 years Ronnie was mad at her dad for leaving the family. Before her dad leaved, he used to teach her how to play piano. This summer she was made to spend her whole summer with her dad. She hated her dad so much, she wouldn't play the piano anymore. After a week or so, she realize that her dad is very supporting and believe in her. What she doesn't know at that time was that her father has cancer and is about to die. While that was going on she met a guy called Will Blakelee. She starts to fall in love with him. When she found out her dad has cancer it was way too late. He only had one month left to live. Around that part i cried so bad because Ronnie regretted that she has talked to him for three year. She also found out that it wasn't because his father left the family not because he cheated on her mother. But, it was her mother who cheated on her father. The way Nicholas Sparks described how slowly Steve was dieing, it feels worse than watching it on T.V.

Ways to live forever.

I find this book very sad. it is about a boy called sam who has leukaemia and is about to die. He decide to write a novel all about him. he has a friend who has cancer. They both met when they were in the hospital. His name is Felix. Felix was a brave boy who wasn't afraid to died. Before Felix died he told sam that he does not want his mother to see him die because that would make her . One of the most moving part was when Felix was in the hospital and only Sam was in the room with him. Felix opened his eyes and smile and then close his eyes and die. Although that part was sad, there were some funny parts in it too.

Karen after every tiring day, goes up to her room and grades the day. But recently she has been grading each day with a C- as almost every day an arguement starts over nothing. THe best day so far was the 14th of December. A+.

Once you read this book and then watch the movie, you will see that there is a lot of thing missing such as the powers of number four and number six. In the book, number four is heat proof, but in the movie number six is heat proof not number four.

1984

This George Orwell classic revolves around Winston Smith, a citizen from Oceania whom works in the Department of Truth. The story follows Winston's façade of being an average citizen that believes in the mysterious figure only known as 'Big Brother' whom is the leader of 'The Party' (the ruling power of Oceania, much like capitalism) while inwardly rebelling against the totalitarian world that controls the citizens through the telescreens and the Thought Police. At first he starts a diary but after he starts a secret love affair with a fellow co-worker, things go off track...
This book had more than 250 pages, so it classifies as 2 books.

Know The Game Baseball and Softball

This book has a great and clear introduction explaining what baseball is, it's origin and the fundamentals of the game.

The book has pictures and diagrams to back up the explaining texts and facts which is very easy to understand and helpful. They also explain the keywords uses in baseball in details and the rules as well as different positions. They introduce us to the equipment that are used in a baseball game and further details on the object, such as how are they being used and what are they used for. Where do the players stand and each different player's role. Along with the rules explanation part there were examples of that rule occurring in the game to make it easier for the reader to understand. There were also an explanation of offensive teams and defensive ones. How does the defensive team defend and how does offensive team score points. The book also contain a list of skills used in a baseball game and in which situation were they used.

I used to like baseball a lot but because baseball wasn't present in Vietnam so I didn't the chance to learn more about this sport. However this book explains to me a lot about the sport, including the rules and techniques. This book has encouraged me to play baseball and come to like it. If you are interested in baseball, I'm recommending this book to you.

Mostly Harmless

In the final installment of the Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy series, the story continues some time after the last book. Arthur finds himself on an earth-like planet called Lameulla, and encounters some slightly odd things about the place.

1. The main religion there worshipped an 'Almighty Bob'
2. Since he crashed onto the planet, the people regarded him as 'The Great Sandwich maker from Almighty Bob himself' and proceeded to wonder why he had fallen out of the sky in the first place.
3. And perhaps the most surprising of all, Arthur finds out he has a daughter, Random Dent.

But how? But why?? Find out when you read it!

CHILDRENS BOOKS RUUUUUUUUUULE!

there are officially no good books left in the world (by world i mean my bookshelf, or any book store withen a hundred mile radius) i mean really!!! i read a book recently that literally made me feel sick, and not becase it was gory or disgusting, (it involved someone finding out they were a fairy....don't judge me it was a christmas preasent...) but anyway, then i read another book that was also a christmas preasent and it was honestly one of my best christmas preasents, because i had looooved the series when i was little and so i read the book in 30 minutes and felt happy after. it was about a little girl who was and evil scientist, and she made this doomsday device that her dog ate thinking it was a grape, and so she shrunk herself and went inside his stoumach to get it out. it had lots of pictures, and very big text. it was my kind of book. it made me laugh so hard i almost fell out of bed, and even though the book was probably designed for 8 year olds i really liked it. the i read some old magic treehouse and some horrible henry AND horrible harry, all childrens books and they were all fantastic, so make fun of me all you like, i am not ashamed to say that childrens books RULE!

This is the first book in the '39 Clues' series. The story starts off with 12 year old Dan Cahil and his 14-year old sister Amy. At the funeral of thier grandmother Grace, they discover that thier family is one of the most powerful families in the world , and they have been responsible for many great things for the human race. This is the first in a (recently finished) series of ten books. I think this boo, along with the series, is good, because of it's action and suspense.

8/10
